What To Do If You are Traveling Outside of the United States

Before you travel internationally, there are a few key steps you should take to ensure you do not lose access to your Stevens accounts.

If you currently have a mobile device linked with the Duo Mobile app and that device will have an internet connection while you are abroad, you do not need to take any further steps. You can continue to authenticate with a Duo Push notification or temporary one-time passcode while you are abroad.

Before Leaving the US

Before you leave the United States, it is important to ensure that you have a smartphone, tablet, or mobile device that can be connected to the internet while you are abroad. Currently, Duo Security does not support calling international phone numbers so you will not be able to authenticate using a phone call when you have left the United States. Please follow the instructions in this knowledge base article to link your mobile device through the Duo Mobile app, then confirm you are able to log in to your account using either a Duo Push or a passcode.

If You Already Left the US

If you have already left the United States without linking a device through the Duo Mobile app, but you still have access to your US phone number, you may be able to authenticate with a phone call. When signing in to your account, select your device with a US phone number and choose the "Call Me" option. If this option works, it is strongly recommended that you link your device through the Duo Mobile app as international calling may not always function reliably and you will most likely be charged extra for the call.

If you do not have access to your US phone number and you have not linked any devices through the Duo Mobile app, you will need to contact User Support Services at support@stevens.edu or (201) 380-6599 for assistance. In your message, please include your Stevens username, your CWID, and your US phone number.
