In case you forget your myStevens password, having recovery methods set up for your account allows you to quickly and easily reset your password. This article goes over how to set up the recommended recovery methods for your profile.

Adding/Updating a Recovery Email Address and Phone Number

You will have the option to add a recovery email address as well as a mobile phone number. This will enable you to reset a forgotten password using a PIN as well as recover your username.

  1. Log in to the Account Self-Service Portal (stevens.edu/myaccount) using your current myStevens username and password.
Sign in using your myStevens credentials.

  2. Authenticate the Duo multi-factor prompt. If you do not see the Duo screen below, please ensure you have Duo Multi-Factor Authentication set up for your account.
Approve the Duo Multifactor Authentication Prompt
  3. Go to the My Profile tab, and then into the Profile sub-tab.
Go to "My Profile" tab, then the "Profile" sub-tab
Here is where you will see your information, including your first and last name, myStevens username, and CWID. If this information is inaccurate, please submit a support ticket.
Note: If this is your first time accessing the Account Self-Service Portal, you may be prompted to set up security questions.

  4. Enter your recovery email address and phone number. It is recommended that you add contact information that you will always have access to, such as your personal email and cell phone number. This information is for security and recovery purposes only and will stay completely private.
Enter your recovery email and phone number, then click "Submit"
Note: Although only a recovery email address is required, it is strongly recommended that you add your phone number as well. The more options for account recovery you have, the less likely you are to be locked out of your account.

Setting Up Your Security Questions

Security questions provide you with another method for account recovery. They can be used in case you forget your CWID.

  1. Similar to Steps 1 and 2 above, sign in to the Account Self-Service Portal using your myStevens username and password, and authenticate using Duo.
  2. If you are not already brought to this page, go to the My Profile tab, and then into the Security Questions sub-tab.
Go to the "My Profile" tab, then to the "Security Questions" Sub Tab
  • If you have not yet set up your security questions:

    1. In the dropdown menu, select a question that only you would know the answer to. Then, type that answer in the boxes directly to the right. Repeat this process for all five mandatory questions, ensuring that each question is unique.
Choose a question only you know the answer to, then type in that answer.

    2. Click Save at the bottom of the page. You have now successfully set up your security questions.

  • If you have already set up your security questions and would like to update them:
    1. Click the pencil icon directly to the left of the question if you'd like to select a different question. If you only want to change your answers, you may type the new answers in the box on the right without clicking the pencil icon.
Click the pencil icon to select a new question, or type in new answers in the text boxes on the right.

    2. To change to a different question, open the question dropdown and select a new one that only you know the answer to. Once you choose a new question, the answer field will automatically clear.
Select a new question from the dropdown.

    3. Type in the answer to your new question, and click Save at the bottom of the page. You have successfully updated your security questions.
Enter your new answers and save your changes.
    • When updating your security questions, you'll see two additional buttons at the bottom of the page:
      • Reset Answers will discard any changes you have made and automatically fill your saved answers in again.
      • Clear All clears your answers from every text field. You can restore your answers by clicking Reset Answers, as none of these changes are permanent until you click Save.
