Best Practice - Info about forwarding email

Your Office 365 mailbox storage size is now 50GB, so forwarding your email to a non-Stevens mailbox because of previous space limitations of our previous mail system is no longer necessary. Using your Office 365 mailbox also ensures that you do not miss important, critical communications such as campus closures, emergencies, and correspondence regarding your academic status. It is important that you check your Stevens email on a regular basis so that you stay in the know.

 

Why using your Office 365 mailbox is important:

 

  • Email will not bounce back if a message is sent to an active Stevens address, which are verified and accurate
  • Easy access with full functionality of all features of Office 365 email in web interface & Outlook mobile apps
  • Email sent from personal email accounts cannot be verified of true identity of sender
  • The IT Department can fully support and troubleshoot email issues without our Office 365 environment
  • Robust virus checking , spam filtering and malware blocking by Microsoft enhances protection
  • Stevens cannot manage or verify the security, privacy or reliability of private, personal email accounts

 

How to remove forwarding from your Office 365 mailbox:

 

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://webmail.stevens.edu. Your username is campusID@stevens.edu and your password is your campusID password.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right hand corner, and then scroll to the bottom and click on View All Outlook Settings.

 

 

  1. Click on Mail >  Forwarding.
  2. Check the box Enable Forwarding and enter the email address you want to forward your mail to.
  3. Click Save.
