How to access SolidWorks in the VLE

SolidWorks is a graphics intensive, specialized software for engineering design and simulation. Using SolidWorks in the VLE will give students superior performance. SolidWorks cannot be installed natively on Mac or Linux operating systems, as it is an application that will run only on Windows computers. Thus, you can access SolidWorks on the VLE using a browser on a PC, Mac, and Linux machine for optimal performance after you've downloaded and installed the Citrix ReceiverYou can access SolidWorks on the VLE using a browser on a PC or Mac after you've downloaded Citrix Receiver.

Accessing Instructions


Step 1: Sign in to VLE

Make sure you're familiar with how to access the VLE from your computer.  There are articles that show how to connect from WindowsMac, and Google Chrome.  

Open the VLE login page by going to stevens.edu/vle, or by launching the citrix workspace app if you're using the Chrome version. 

Enter your Stevens username (WITHOUT @stevens.edu) and your Stevens password.  Click "Login".

Step 2: Opening E - 120 Solidworks Desktop

Single-click the E-120 Solidworks Desktop and download the install file.

Open the install file when it opens.

Once you've opened the install file, you with be directed to login into OneDrive. You MUST do so inorder to properly save your files. For more information on saving to OneDrive, Click Here

You now have access to the SolidWorks desktop which includes a basic Windows desktop (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, file explorer).

Find Solidworks 2019 and click.

You can now use SolidWorks in the VLE.

To properly exit the VLE, click the Windows Start Menu button, then Shut Down.

Reminder about how to save your assignments and files in the VLE

When using the VLE, make sure to save your files in Microsoft OneDrive, which is part of the Office 365 suite. You can access OneDrive by visiting https://storage.stevens.eduLog in with your Stevens email address as your username and your Stevens password.
